Kundalini Yoga is a transformational science of body postures (asanas) strung together in Yoga sets called Kriyas. Along with special breathing techniques (pranayama), meditations and hand positions (mudras) it allows for complete physical, mental, emotional and spiritual unfoldment and integration.
Kundalini Yoga came to the United States via Yogi Bhajan.
There are seven primary chakras, or energy centers sometimes called wheels, that flow through the human body along the spinal cord. The chakra energy system lies within more than just the physical state of being. Each charka is correlated with different aspects of our lives.
- 1st Chakra- Muladhara- root
- 2nd Chakra- Svadhisthana- sacral
- 3rd Chakra- Manipura- power
- 4th Chakra- Anahata- love
- 5th Chakra- Vishuddha- communication
- 6th Chakra- Ajna- intuition (third eye)
- 7th Chakra Sahasrara- divine
By learning to understand and work with our chakras to bring them into balance we are able to excel at all things and lead a joyful life. Kundalini Yoga provides scientific approach to exercizing your chakras so that they may become balanced. By focusing on the areas within your life that need the most attention, this system is able to allow you to remove blockages so that you may express yourself to the highest potential.
Each Chakras has a primary color of expression and is associated with specific glands in the endocryne system. It is via kundalini yoga that one is able to work with these glands and energies in a controlled manner.

Krishan Singh Background
Krishan Singh began his yoga practice back in 2004. At that time in his life something was missing, something more than the usual speed of life. A hole had manifested as a phisical ailment and forced him to go into the hospital for stomach testing. Nothing was medically wrong with him. What was wrong was his connection to that greater Source of purpose and understanding. For some time he thought,
“Hershel, (His birth name,)Â there is no way you can see yourself lifting weights through your 80′s, maybe you should try Yoga”
Then while visiting with his friends Jason and Sarah he was fortunate enough for Sarah to provide a Reiki healing session on him. It turns out he had a blockage of energy in his 5th chakra, the center of communication which relates to the ethers. Through the reiki session a miraculous event occured. When Sarah located the stuck energy, she concentrated really hard…
All of the sudden an emense wave of energy, kundalini, shot up from the base of his spine and out through his throat center. It was an experience he shall never forget. He thought,
“Perhaps I should learn more about these things called Chakras”
In his studies he actually found a Yoga that focused on the Chakras, Kundalini Yoga. Soon he would find Kundalini Yoga focuses on much more than just chakras. It was divine free will at its greatest. Since then he practices kundalini yoga nearly every day.
His first instructor was Courtney Ofetdahl. In time he began to realize that he could help fulfill his soul purpose by helping others to find their path through Kundalini Yoga, for his is the path of the Teacher. And so he worked with Courtenay’s instructor, Lisa Lawrence in an apprentiship role. Lisa received her yoga instruction through Ravi Singh.
As he opened his being to the subtle, he heard the call spiritual teacher, Esther Turner. Esther initiated him in Reiki healing, as well as guided him and others through a Light Body meditation course. The light body course blazed the path to bring me in touch with my Soul. Since taking the course, Soul contact occurs regularly in his life and he has been working to blend his ego with the soul.
In 2007 Hershel received his Spiritual Name, Krishan Singh, which means one who performs his duties in devotional service as praise of God. He soon realized he required deeper training and instruction in Kundalini Yoga. So he began Kundalini Yoga Teacher training, as taught by Yogi Bhajan at Spirit Rising Yoga in Chicago from Shiva Singh and Shabad Kaur. In 2008 Krishan recieved a level 1 KRI Teacher Certification.
Krishan states, “I am fortunate to have come to Yoga and to be surrounded with such brilliant lights upon the planet. As I continue my studies in Yoga and in the Charkras, those seven centers of energy I will share my experiences so that others may gain the benefits that Kundalini Yoga and this education has provided me.”
