So I got to do some substitue teaching this past Thursday for my local fellow Kundalini Yogini Nam Kaur.

It was a great experience, I loved it. Teaching Kundalini Yoga provides such a fulfillment in my life. For the past several years I’ve been working hard on myself and studying much. It’s finally has gotten to the point where I am not only ready to start sharing the knowledge and teachings with others, I really need to share.

I saw this on the room I taught the class in and felt right at home.

Sometimes after being deep in meditation, or reading about the Lord’s yoga, I get so enamored with Yoga that it’s all I want to do, read, and think about during the day.

But alas, I have a day job, well more of a career than just a day job. So how can I integrate me being a yogi into the workplace??

It just so happens that the very daily lives we live are an evolving form of Spiritual Practice. It’s daily yoga so to speak. The masters and advanced students are capable of maintaining a high level of consciousness throughout their earthly endeavors. Before enlightenment, pick up water and carry stones, after enlightenment pick up water and carry stones.

Well in my case my stones are performing Internet Marketing for Full Compass, who sells pro audio, video and lighting equipment. There is an ancient truth which is something to the effect of, “as above, so below.” This is stating that the work we take upon our Selves in the higher levels (Spirit) is reflected in the work we perform on the lower levels (matter.)

So let’s see how I can integrate my career and my yogic perspective. The Internet from a certain point of view is an Ethernet. So my current career is to Etherically promote, Sound & Light Technology. Wow that sounds pretty cool, from a yoga perspective I get the Ethers and Sound and Light technology sounds alot like yoga, especially when you ponder on mantra and the Light of the Soul. So my career and my yoga practice are actually closely connected. Great I can keep on marketing fun microphone products like the Shure SM58.

What are the daily tasks you find yourself doing throughout your life?? Odds are they are a reflection of the work of your Soul.

Does anyone have a good recommendation on where to find mens white yoga pants?

I have found, in the past, that it is challenging enough to find mens yoga pants for purchase. At the moment more women tend to practice yoga. I suspect more men will come to yoga over time.

I was able to find my mens white yoga pants at Macy’s, but they are actually pajama pants

Someday I’ll find a solid supply and let ya all know

I was recently introduced to the fact that their is an International Peace Day, on September 21st.

Upon reflecting on the subject I thought to myself, what a great concept! It turns our that International Peace Day was formed by a resolution of the United Nations. What a great idea, here is a whole day that is dedicated towards placing energy on peace.

Now the opportunity with this information lies in the fact that this was the first time I was made aware of this concept. I consider myself to be a pretty peaceful dude, and this is the first time I heard about it. That’s a challenge to be addressed now and in the future. We need wider distribution of this message in order to focus our planet’s collective energy on peace instead of the alternative.

I came across the following quote in a while browsing through the International Peace website on a pdf doc:
“The souls of people, on their way to Earth-life, pass through a room full of lights; each takes a taper – often only a spark – to guide it in the dim country of this world. But some souls, by rare fortune, are detained longer – have time to grasp a handful of tapers, which they weave into a torch. These are the torch-bearers of humanity – its poets, seers and saints, who lead and lift the race out of darkness, toward the light. They are the law-givers and saviours, the light-bringers, way-showers, and truthtellers, and without them humanity would lose its way in the dark.” Plato

I was rather moved by this statement. I suspect that the light-bringers are in the process of getting the message out. It’s only a matter of time until the world knows, (I’d say 2012.)
So in order to participate in this International Peace Day, I intend to share with people I know the fact of International Peace Day. I encourage you to do the same!

I thought I would follow this up by listing some of my favorite peaceful organizations.

The Red Cross

The Carter Center- they actually wage peace here, and are doing great things to help mental health

Sustain Dane- this local non profit focuses on Green and sustainable activities, and I believe Green is peaceful living

I also thought I would add the Great Invocation to this site to help spread the Word.
From the point of Light within the Mind of God
Let light stream forth into the minds of men.
Let Light descend on Earth.
From the point of Love within the Heart of God
Let love stream forth into the hearts of men.
May Christ return to Earth.
From the centre where the Will of God is known
Let purpose guide the little wills of men –
The purpose which the Masters know and serve.
From the centre which we call the race of men
Let the Plan of Love and Light work out
And may it seal the door where evil dwells.
Let Light and Love and Power restore the Plan on Earth.

In yoga practice today, dwell in peace.

For those of you who have been keepin up, I was recently granted the Spiritual Name, of Krishan Singh. Upon receipt of the Spiritual Name one is told to meditate on this name in order to gain deeper understanding of its meaning, including the more subtle meanings.

The other day while meditating on the name, an image came to mind. It was the image of a being floating near to me, one leg was up in easy posture, while the other was facing down towards the earth. I felt at peace with this vision.

Now me being the intellectual type, I figure I could track down some insights to the name Krishan by searching for the name. I came across this page on Guru Har Krishan.

Upon seeing the image there I was immediately drawn into the entry.

I found this line to be of much interest:

—————————–

Particularly, the local Muslim population was much impressed with the purely humanitarian deeds of the Guru Sahib and nicknamed him Bala Pir (child prophet).

————————–

People that cross social and religious barriers in the interest of healing and Spirit are grand indeed.
This note was also interesting, as I love walking sticks and used to have a great stick collection as a child

——————————-

The Guru was always carrying a stick with him.

————————————

Now I am not specifically versed in the process of Spiritual Name giving, but I am lead to believe that I am tied into the energy of Guru Har Krishan.

I look forward to becoming closer to this energy. Meditate upon it I will.

This week marks an exciting path in my spiritual journey in this life time, for it is this week that I received my Kundalini Yoga Spiritual Name. To be given a spiritual name demonstrates a certain level of committment to the path, as well as recognition of some level of progression I belive.

The practice of spiritual name giving originated in the Americas by Yogi Bhajan. Yogi Bhajan passed this method down so that others in this coming Age of Aquarius could receive thier formal spiritual names.

Here is the note I received with the presentation of my name:

———————————————————

Spiritual name for Hershel Reese Miller: Krishan Singh.

Sat Nam, my dear brother in Divine,

Your request for a spiritual name has been gratefully received.

You have been blessed to live as Krishan Singh, which means the Lion of God who performs his duties as a devotional service in praise of God, and who walks with grace and courage throughout his life.

Krishan means one who performs his duties as a devotional service in praise of God. Singh means the Lion of God who walks with grace and courage throughout his life. Singh is a name that Yogi Bhajan gave to all men. He taught that every man has the potential to attain a true state of grace and courage, to be a great lion-warrior for God, and he encouraged each man to manifest that potential.

Receiving the name Krishan Singh means that you have the potential to act as your higher consciousness guides you, with the grace and courage of a Lion of God.

——————————————————————-

WOW, I most certainly am blessed.

There is so much deeper meaning within the definition of the name Krishan. As one who performs duties as a devotional service in the praise of God, there is a large amount of Bahkti Yoga involved. Bahkti means devotion, there is an entire chapter in the Bhagavad Gita on Bahkti Yoga. What is so interesting about this is that performing duties is a means of following ones dharma. Following ones dharma is important for the evolution of the soul. And since this service is done in the praise of God, one may interpret this to mean that the fruit of ones labor, or following the dharma in this case, is given up, sacrificed (which means made sacred) to the Lord. A proper practice of non-attatchment through Bahkti Yoga and while following ones dharma is truly a blessing.

To walk this life, with grace and courage from a state of higher consciousness is beyond words to describe.

I had recently read an article about the Golden Bridge Center in the Yoga Journal. Reading through the article I thought to myself, “Wow, this center sounds fantastic!” In digging through the story I began to think that Madison, and other cities would do well for a healing center such as this. I can’t wait to visit there sometime.

It would seem as though the magical process of manifestion has been quickening for me.

I am fortunate to live a life where I travel from time to time. And this time I am fortunate to have happened out to the West Coast with my beautiful soon to be wife, Jamie.

While out in CA we decided to take a class with Kundalini Yoga instructor Gurmukh. The journey through the Golden Bridge Center was nothing less than absolutely magical. There is a presence that resides in a healing center that emminates a sense of well being, and this force was very strong here.

Here’s a pic of me outside, waiting with anticipation

This was my first class with such a large group, and as such I was ever so excited for it! Group consciousness and practice allows for a deeper practice. The sacrifice, (make sacred,) of the self for the benefit of the group is divine indeed.

From the first moment we tuned in, my consciouness was lifted. The group sounding forth of the mantra elevated the spirit in just a few moments. (I wait with anticipation for the next large group class.)

We focused on the Liver, and detoxification. The work was very challenging, yet rewarding at the same time.

I am super pumped to take another class with Gurmukh. After class we went and introduced ourselves. Gurmukh is a kind humble lady, a true mark of a great teacher, she asked us where we were from and chit chatted with us for a while. I informed her that I was an aspiring Kundalini Yoga Instructore.

After class they served salad and rice, which was yummy and healthy. It was nice to socialize with others that shared in the lovely group experience. (and they get to benefit from that experience all the time!)

Here is my future bride inside Golden Bridge, stunning scenery

The Golden Bridge journey reinvigorated my committment to Kundalini Yoga. When the soul speaks to you and confirms that you are on your path, the experience is not to be ignored. I shall be focusing some energy on achieving proper certification.

I purchased another Chakra Book to add to my collection on the way out, “Your Life is in your Chakras, by Gururattan Kaur Khalsa. I can’t wait to dig into the materials

We closed class with a lovely group meditation song of (care of Yogi Bhajan via Gurmukh);

I am Beautiful, I am Bountiful, I am Blissful.

I am, I am.
