She is General Manager of Kundalini Yoga of Wisconsin having completed a 200hr certification with the Kundalini Research Institute (KRI) and Yoga Alliance in 2008. She is also in the process of completing Level II KRI Teacher Training. She is honored with the spiritual name, Sat Sangat Kaur, which means “true community.” She is a Naturopathic Doctor at Human Nature, LLC and has a background in food-based health education and cleansing. She often explains how yoga and meditation assist with body systems. Her favorite kriyas are ones that make you move! Some of her longterm goals as an instructor include providing students with greater access to the depth of teachings available in Kundalini yoga with special focuses on mantra, mudra, meditation, dance, etc. She hopes to some day learn to play the gong and developing a strong Kundalini yoga community in Wisconsin (and one that includes access to regular early morning sadhana–stay-tuned!)

For anyone who happens upon this blog you’ll see a 1 year gap in posting. Not a very good thing to do in the blogosphere but I had reasons for the posting delay. For 1 I had a new baby and he is great, he is another time committment, but it’s the type of committment that I love to make. And 2 I’ve been exploring some other aspects of yoga. Not necessarily Kundalini Yoga. Live and yoga in general are ever evolving perspectives.

As you’ll note from my extensive Teacher Training class, I was subjected to a lot of tradition carried over from India. The tradition is beautiful and has transformed my life for the better, however, as an individual I didn’t agree with all of the rigid structure set forth in the tradition. As a seeker of Truth, I’ve begun exploring additional paths of Raja Yoga (note I didn’t say Raj Yoga) and have found that in this new age, which is just about the current age, that one must take different aspects of life and spirituality from experience and integrate them together. For example, within my new line of studies I’ve learned that minds in the Eastern Hemisphere of the Earth are more accustom to long stretches of meditation, say hours on end, while minds in the Western Hemisphere, which is where I live, are more active in nature and don’t due as well with the long stretches. Personally I have no problem meditation for an hour at a crack, but I’d say I’m not typical of the common Westerner in this way. So to be of increased value and service in the future a shift from the traditional perspective may be of value in the West. There are several other instances of this, which I may or may not get into in the future. I don’t want to detract from the wonderful thing, which is Kundalini Yoga.

For this past year I’ve been struggling with how to best communicate this on this blog, since I’ve been communicating here for the most part from a traditional Kundalini Yoga perspective. I’ve found the answer, just honesty. My studies have taken me to a point where it’s become challenging to lump all the perspectives I’d like to share only under the Kundalini Yoga Blog & Chakra Balancing concept. Spirituality is so much more than just Kundalini Yoga & Chakra Balancing. So I am going to pick up my sharing within a domain I’ve been toying with for a couple of years. It took me a while to develop a Title and Tag line that could encompass all of the thoughts that I will likely share over time, yoga, meditation, complimentary medicine, astrology, spirituality, relationships, so broad. And I can now cover under the heading of

Hello yoga interweb, I came across this great resource for finding yoga classes in Madison WI, Madtownyoga.com. Madtown Yoga’s website administrator has been kind enough to go through the trouble of aggregating the Yoga Schedules for the following studios:

Bliss Flow (recently opened up a new studio, although I haven’t been)

Capital Fitness

The Chakra House (might I suggest a class with Laura Flanagan)

Inner Fire

Jewel in the Lotus

Kaivala

A Perfect Knot

Yoga Eight

The site is great, it provides all yoga classes going on today and the rest of this week.

What a great resource for the Madison yoga community, check it out!

So I got to do some substitue teaching this past Thursday for my local fellow Kundalini Yogini Nam Kaur.

It was a great experience, I loved it. Teaching Kundalini Yoga provides such a fulfillment in my life. For the past several years I’ve been working hard on myself and studying much. It’s finally has gotten to the point where I am not only ready to start sharing the knowledge and teachings with others, I really need to share.

I saw this on the room I taught the class in and felt right at home.

Sometimes after being deep in meditation, or reading about the Lord’s yoga, I get so enamored with Yoga that it’s all I want to do, read, and think about during the day.

But alas, I have a day job, well more of a career than just a day job. So how can I integrate me being a yogi into the workplace??

It just so happens that the very daily lives we live are an evolving form of Spiritual Practice. It’s daily yoga so to speak. The masters and advanced students are capable of maintaining a high level of consciousness throughout their earthly endeavors. Before enlightenment, pick up water and carry stones, after enlightenment pick up water and carry stones.

Well in my case my stones are performing Internet Marketing for Full Compass, who sells pro audio, video and lighting equipment. There is an ancient truth which is something to the effect of, “as above, so below.” This is stating that the work we take upon our Selves in the higher levels (Spirit) is reflected in the work we perform on the lower levels (matter.)

So let’s see how I can integrate my career and my yogic perspective. The Internet from a certain point of view is an Ethernet. So my current career is to Etherically promote, Sound & Light Technology. Wow that sounds pretty cool, from a yoga perspective I get the Ethers and Sound and Light technology sounds alot like yoga, especially when you ponder on mantra and the Light of the Soul. So my career and my yoga practice are actually closely connected. Great I can keep on marketing fun microphone products like the Shure SM58.

What are the daily tasks you find yourself doing throughout your life?? Odds are they are a reflection of the work of your Soul.

Kundalini yoga is an excellent means of preventative maintenance for the body to fight dis-ease.

I like to view it as one component of a holsitic approach to alternative medicine.

I’ve recently contributed a post on Alternative Medicine, on Madison’s community blog Dane101. Check it out!Â

Does anyone have a good recommendation on where to find mens white yoga pants?

I have found, in the past, that it is challenging enough to find mens yoga pants for purchase. At the moment more women tend to practice yoga. I suspect more men will come to yoga over time.

I was able to find my mens white yoga pants at Macy’s, but they are actually pajama pants

Someday I’ll find a solid supply and let ya all know

be well,

International Peace Day

I was recently introduced to the fact that their is an International Peace Day, on September 21st.

Upon reflecting on the subject I thought to myself, what a great concept! It turns our that International Peace Day was formed by a resolution of the United Nations. What a great idea, here is a whole day that is dedicated towards placing energy on peace.

Now the opportunity with this information lies in the fact that this was the first time I was made aware of this concept. I consider myself to be a pretty peaceful dude, and this is the first time I heard about it. That’s a challenge to be addressed now and in the future. We need wider distribution of this message in order to focus our planet’s collective energy on peace instead of the alternative.

I came across the following quote in a while browsing through the International Peace website on a pdf doc:
“The souls of people, on their way to Earth-life, pass through a room full of lights; each takes a taper – often only a spark – to guide it in the dim country of this world. But some souls, by rare fortune, are detained longer – have time to grasp a handful of tapers, which they weave into a torch. These are the torch-bearers of humanity – its poets, seers and saints, who lead and lift the race out of darkness, toward the light. They are the law-givers and saviours, the light-bringers, way-showers, and truthtellers, and without them humanity would lose its way in the dark.” Plato

I was rather moved by this statement. I suspect that the light-bringers are in the process of getting the message out. It’s only a matter of time until the world knows, (I’d say 2012.)
So in order to participate in this International Peace Day, I intend to share with people I know the fact of International Peace Day. I encourage you to do the same!

I thought I would follow this up by listing some of my favorite peaceful organizations.

The Red Cross

The Carter Center- they actually wage peace here, and are doing great things to help mental health

Sustain Dane- this local non profit focuses on Green and sustainable activities, and I believe Green is peaceful living

I also thought I would add the Great Invocation to this site to help spread the Word.
From the point of Light within the Mind of God
Let light stream forth into the minds of men.
Let Light descend on Earth.
From the point of Love within the Heart of God
Let love stream forth into the hearts of men.
May Christ return to Earth.
From the centre where the Will of God is known
Let purpose guide the little wills of men –
The purpose which the Masters know and serve.
From the centre which we call the race of men
Let the Plan of Love and Light work out
And may it seal the door where evil dwells.
Let Light and Love and Power restore the Plan on Earth.

In yoga practice today, dwell in peace.
