New Energy Balance

Earlier this week I finished another 40 day Sadhana.  My practice was a New Energy Balance.  This kriya was a lovely set that nicely stimulated the lower triangle centers and then yoked the energy up to the higher centers.

So do I find my self newly balanced with energy?  Well, somewhat yes.

My wife and I have recently been blessed with a new baby and let me tell you I for sure have some new energy to balance.  But through working with the kriya I’ve found myself regulating my energy better then I was before.  I would like to think I am more calm and at peace with my life, even though it seems upside down at times.

One of the beautiful benefits of this 40 day practice was that this new energy balance keeps with ya a bit.  For example, today I practiced the kriya, Master Your Domain.  I have practiced this kriya before, several times in fact.  In the past I’ve noticed a welling up of energy in my 3rd center, after practicing Master Your Domain, due to the navel work mixed with pranayam.  This time however, I noticed this energy rising.  The energy that was channeled into my system rose up via the new energy balance I had created with 40 days of practice. 

Now I shall have to balance other aspects of my life with this new energy balance.

Okay, I admit the class will focus on more than just lower back pain exercises. In fact the entire spinal column will get a good workout through this yoga set (kriya.)

Lower back pain tends to be an item that many people deal with, from office workers to construction workers, we could all use some exercises to work with our lower back pain.

I realize that this is called a basic spinal series, but there is nothing basic about this class. It provides a scientific exercise approach to the lower back and more. The yogis say that age can be measured based on the flexibility of ones spine. At first this may come off as rather off the wall. But let’s think deeper on this. Our spinal column is the encasement for our central nerve channel. This means that the balance of the bodies messages, in the nervous system, are carried throughout this channel. What is age, other than a slowing down of system processes, the nervous system being of primary importance.

So in this class we will be focusing on the lower back and working our way up our spine.

I’ve recently read that many people experience greater mental clarity after stepping through this kriya.

In order to improve mental health, I believe that one can leverage the benefits of yoga.

This week’s Spirits Awaken yoga class will focus on Mental Health Balancing and take us through a series of poses/breathing exercises which will facilitate increased mental clarity and a improved mental health status.

This is a fun set that is straight forward to achieve, but does wonders for your body.

This set prepares the body for deep meditation and is good for people that tend to be challenged with focusing their minds. Let’s face it, given the pace of the world these days lots of people find it challenging to focus the mind and simply be.

This is one of my favorite Kriyas, okay I say that about nearly all of them, but this one is soo cool.

In this class we will be focusing on brining good fortune to ourselves. This is an excellent supplemental activity for the law of attraction.

We are all meant to have an abundance of the things we need in life. A secret is to not get attached to things. Focus on attracting them, but without attachment.

I love this yoga set because, well it works. A stead weekly, or 40 day practice will bring good fortune upon you. (Okay I’ve only done this one for a weeks time, but I’ll put it on my 40 day kriya list.)

Liver Cleanse Kriya- Cleansing via Kundalini Yoga

In honor of my recent visit to Golden Bridge, and class with Gurmukh, class this week will focus on a Liver Cleanse Kriya “Let the Liver Live”

I was very blessed to have been guided through the rather challenging set from Gurmukh. A commonly known thing is that the liver is responsible for the detoxification of the human body, alcohol is a common forign element that is detoxified with the Liver.
Gurmukh mentioned that the Liver tends to be the holding ground for all body toxins. And as such negative energy tends to get amassed in the Liver.

With the transition from Winter into Spring we find ourselves at a prime time to detoxify the body, and thus the work at hand with this lovely Kundalini Yoga set.

Liver Cleanse Kriya (Yoga Set)

In order to help facilitate the health and detoxification of the liver, we have got to stimulate the organ. This kriya places the body into positions that allow for natural pressure to be placed on the liver and excentuated via pranayama.

This set also helps to stimulate the nervous system.

During one of the asanas my body began to shake after holding the posture for a decent amount of time. The shaking, I believe, was the result of the detoxification process occuring through my system. This helps to build the system back up properly.

Liver Cleansing- Body Maintenance

So the liver is super important for a person’s health and well being, but WOW do we take it hard on our livers. I mean, I went to college, the balance of our social gather’s have alcohol integrated into them in some shape or form. Any alcohol consumed promotes strain on the liver.

In I perfect world I’d tell ya this and you’d all work to reduce your alcohol consumption. But, that may not be a realisitc approach at this point of time, though you could give it up for Lent.

So, that leaves the choice of performing regular maintenance on this important body organ. And by my view on things Kundalini Yoga, and specifically the Let the Liver Live kriya, provide the optimal means to achieve this healthy maintenance of the liver.

Developing Intuition Exercise #5

How exciting is it that we as humans can work on developing intuition!

Intuition is one of those things that is ellusive to describe at times, yet is known to be a powerful asset for people. There are times when we simply get feelings and thoughts that tell us the proper course of action to take. We don’t necessarily know where the impulse came from, but we know it is there.

We have several descriptive names for it, women’s intuition, mother’s intuition, a gut feeling what ever you want to call it, it exists.  And through Kundalini Yoga we have one means of exercising intuitive prowless.

The Intuition center is closely connected to the Pituitary Gland, or Master Gland.  It is often called the Master gland for it is responsible for regulation of other areas of the endocrine system.

So for our 5th installment of Spirits Awaken class we will be focusing on stimulating our pituitary glands and our center of intuition.  We are going to start with an exercise to charge our magnetic fields, then follow that up with some Power Center work, (helps pull up the gut instict.)

There will be an pose that is very potent at pituitary gland stimulation and immediately after that we will take on a fun exercise to help polarize the magnetic field, or aura once again.

Gain Personal Power with Yoga- Class #4

3rd Chakra- Power, Kundalini Yoga Kriyas, Spirits Awaken Class 4 Comments

Let’s face it, the demands of todays society can cause some wear and tear on an individual.

How big is your “to do list?” I am sure there is plenty on that list, one of my to do’s stares at me each time I author a post here, (I have half a dozen blog post ideas saved as drafts, I’ll crank them out in time.)

Instead of focusing on how to relax the body and mind, I thought it may be appropriate to lead a class focused on increasing a sense of personal power.

Personal Power Yoga

In order to gain personal power through yoga we must focus on our core.  We will be targeting our mid section through a series of exercizes, such as leg raises.  There will also be some body lenthening stretches to perform.
This kriya will focus on empowering our navel centers.  Our navel centers are the first point from which we gained nurishment.  The navel is responsible for supplying our bodies with energy.  Our core also serves as a primarly location of physical balance for an individual as they move from here to there.  One could say that our core holds a bit of confidence in it as well.
Many times the stomach aches we experience as a result of “stress” is really just an imbalance in our navel power.  That is to say, a feeling as though we are unable to affect the conditions around us.  Stress is a natural occurance in daily life, in fact it is necessary for survival and growth.  How we deal with stress is another story.

I propose that Yoga is an excellent means of dealing with stress and that personal power sets support this.

Benefits of Increased Personal Power

  • Sense of control in ones life
  • Knowledge to understand how to effect change in ones environment
  • Efficient use of energy, putting first things first and achieving the most important items with exactly the amount of effort that is required
  • Self confidence to communicate with

I do so hope you can attend, this is one of my favorite sets to perform in the morning when I need to have my game face on :-)

The Heart Center- Law of Attraction Work #3

This weeks Spirits Awaken Kundalini Yoga class will focus on the Heart Center, or 4th Chakra.
Now the heart center is one of my favorite centers, I know you aren’t supposed to have favorites, but this is the center which is sooo key for balance.
Ones heart center deals with, not only love and relations, but also to abundance.

This set was originally taught by Yogi Bhajan as the Opportunity and Green Energy set. Green the color of money ;-) Now don’t get greedy on me, money is simply a physical manifestation/representation of energy. An exchange of money equals an exchange of energy.
And thus we tie in the title of this and connect the heart center with the Law of Attraction. Any one seen the movie “The Secret” well its not a huge secret anymore. Its a film well worth the time investment. The skinny is that one of the great laws of the Universe is the Law of Attraction. That as conscious beings we are able to attract to ourselves that which we focus on.

And it works, I kid you not.

So here is another little secret, not a secret anymore, a consistent practice of kundalini yoga exercises that focus on the heart center can help one to invoke the Law of Attraction.

This set happens to be one of my favorites, as it provides a well distributed work out across the entire body and is really fun to do.
